In this workshop you will make a timeless style peasant top for a girl in your life. Together with the classic Tana Lawn cotton of Liberty of London or Vichy check cotton it will become a handmade heirloom piece for your daughter, niece or granddaughter. And teenagers are invited to embrace it and make one for themselves, their sisters or friends!
The top is loosely fitting and very comfortable. It has a wide neck, an A-line silhouette and flared sleeves. The top will be finished with overlocked seams inside and will have an elasticated neckline. It is perfect for the warm weather but can be worn all year round layered with a cosy cardigan. And because of the loose fit and the elastic it “grows with a child” and can be worn for many years.
For the classic look we suggest a beautiful lightweight Tana Lawn cotton with iconic prints from the Liberty of London or beautiful Vichy checks. The cotton is easy to sew especially for the beginner sewists. The fine quality Tana Lawn cotton is very thin and silk-like to the touch, lustrously coloured, while also being comfortable, breathable and machine washable. Vichy checks or Gingham cotton has all the same qualities of the fabric and the classic check duotone patterns.
Some of the skills you will practice:
- cutting the pattern pieces
- overlocking edges
- sewing straight and curvy lines
- sewing hems
- making elasticated neckline.
We sew in a cosy relaxed environment in a small group accompanied by tea, biscuits and a friendly chatter.
You don’t need to worry about what to bring to this workshop because all the tools will be provided and the fabric and other necessary notions are sold right here at The Craft Company. Depending on your preferred model (with longer or shorter sleeves) and the length of the top, on average you will need from 50cm (or even less for a baby, toddler) to 1m of the cotton.

Liberty of London or Vichy checks fabric and a matching thread.

This workshop has a maximum capacity of 5 participants. It will be held with a minimum of 2 participants.
This Workshop will be held in The Craft Company’s studio in Cascais, and in English.
CANCELLATION POLICY:
The amount will only be refunded in case of written cancellation and not later than 1 week in advance, in relation to the day and time scheduled of the Workshop.
